Provenance
With W W Warner Antiques, 2013
The service was relatively small consisting of only 36 plates, 2 butter dishes and various compotiers, see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, vol V, 2005, revised edition 2026, no. 93-2, pp.1029-1030.
It appears a supplement of 12 plates was purchased by Madame Lefebvre on 15 October 1793. The decoration matches that of design no. 77 in the factory album of plate designs, marked "choisie Lefebure". The album also includes three other similar designs which differ slightly in border boundaries. Three sample plates are recorded (all decorated by Drouet in 1792). Another plate with the same decoration and painted by Pierre () is in the Musée de Sèvres, Paris, and a larger group of wares from this service will be offered at Bonhams, London, 500 Years of European Porcelain, 30 June 2026, lot 111.
