Naturalistically modelled with overlapping petals finely edged in puce, the covers with green stalk handles issuing leaves and a single closed bud at the terminals, the sepals moulded to the underside also picked out in green, 6.8cm high (4)

Roses are mentioned in the 1755 Chelsea Sale Catalogue, which lists 'Two small fig leaves and roses for ditto', and 'Four fine roses and four leaves to ditto for a desart', Second Day's Sale, 11 March 1755, lots 42 and 80 respectively.
