Overall there is wormage of various sizes and the wood is well worn, the hands are missing and the robes are damaged to the front. There are some areas of pigment left to the hand, the shoulder and hair, there are some cracks as can be seen in the illustrations, the feet are damaged but original, the lacquered wood stand of three-tiers, slight chips to edge of bottom tier and slight crack, slight wear to pigments.

说明:神之具現:女性神道神祇
此件木雕表現一位女性神道神祇(kami)之立像。作為日本本土信仰中的靈性存在,kami並非具體人格之再現,而是寄寓於自然與宇宙之中的神聖力量。與後世日本藝術中強調個人特徵的肖像不同,本像面容平滑簡約、五官含蓄不彰,姿態端正而內斂,整體呈現出一種寧靜、自足而沉思的精神氣質,而非具體歷史人物之描繪。
神道信仰以自然崇拜為核心,認為山川草木、岩石河流皆有神靈寄居,早期並不以人形呈現。隨佛教於六世紀傳入日本,造像傳統逐漸發展,神祇亦開始被具象化。至平安時代(794–1185),在佛教影響之下,神道神祇的形象多轉化為類人形式,常取材於貴族形象,或融合中國宮廷服飾與佛教造像之風格。
本像年代約屬平安時代中期,正體現此種融合。神祇以優雅仕女之姿示現,長袍自肩垂覆至足,衣面連貫流暢;袖長而挺,垂於身側。雙手原應貼附於身體,現已佚失。整體衣紋不以深刻雕琢取勝,而以淺刻線條與平滑面構成,僅隱約暗示動勢,使作品呈現出克制而沉靜的節奏。
