Footnotes
The plaster model of "Le philosophe", dated 1776, still survives at Sèvres and is illustrated in Susan Weber and Charlotte Vignon (eds.), Sèvres Extraordinaire! Sculpture from 1740 until today, 2024, p. 174, fig. 4.71.
Boizot's models of "Le philosophe" and "L'étude" were often produced and placed on a Lampe antique, both in porcelain and in bronze. A pair of bronze versions are in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles (object no.88.SB.113).
