Painted by Cyprien-Julien Hirel de Choisy with a band of polychrome Arabesque scrollwork interspersed with urns and oval medallions imitating hardstones between blue-ground bands decorated with trailing floral foliage, gilt dentil bands between, the front of the cup with trophies referring to the French state, the Fasces and Phrygian cap, the reverse with eternal burning fire, the cup: 9.5cm high; the saucer: 18cm diam., interlaced LL monograms enclosing date letter oo, gilder's mark 2000 for Vincent and painter's mark for Hirel de Choisy, incised marks (2)
