Derived from a Meissen original by Kändler, this group would have formed a pair with a group of two lambs, see the pairs sold by Christie's on 10 October 1988, lot 282 and 14 May 2003, lot 229. A similar group of two kids is illustrated by Elizabeth Adams, Chelsea Porcelain, 2001, p.94, fig.7.38, where the author states that just four examples of this rare group are known.
