The unusual mark appears on landscape-decorated pieces from 1758-59. Due to work period, specialty and salary, David Peters notes that the only plausible painter would have been Jean-Baptiste Petit (le jeune) (see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, vol. I, 2005, revised edition 2026, p. 67).
A similar cup and saucer and a pomade pot marked by the same painter are in the Belvedere Collection, published in Joanna Gwilt, , 2014, p. 212-213, nos. 150 and 151.
