The inventory of the Saxon Royal Court Pantry at Hubertusburg in 1755 includes two mentions of a "seated small wolf" (Maureen Cassidy-Geiger, "K.H.C.H.: The Königliche Hof-Conditorei Hubertusburg, " in Schloss Hubertusburg, Arbeitshefte des Landesamtes für Denkmalpflege Sachsen, vol. I, 2022, p. 469 and 478). Two examples of the companion model with its head turned to the left, also marked with "K.H.C." marks, were in the List Collection, Magdeburg (sold at Hans W. Lange, Berlin, 20-30 March 1938, lot 764), and in the Rudolf Just Collection, Prague (sold at Sotheby's Olympia, 11 December 2001, lot 81).
