Simon Spero points out that no other form of teabowl is known to have been produced at Chelsea during the incised triangle period. Therefore, this is likely one of the earliest teabowls produced in English porcelain and an important piece in the history of tea consumption in England. Two taller beakers of similar form with Kakiemon style 'Red Tiger' decoration were included in the ECC English Pottery and Porcelain Commemorative Exhibition Catalogue, 1948, pl.45, nos.208 and 210.
