There is much variation in the body and glaze of the incised triangle wares, to be expected in the experimental first few years of the factory. This can be seen when comparing various goat and bee jugs. Similarly, the present lot is a form only known in the incised triangle period. Some examples would appear to exhibit the soft, creamy-white glaze associated with the addition of tin-oxide. See the example with polychrome decoration probably added in the London workshop of William Duesbury, from the Anton Gabszewicz Collection, sold by Bonhams on 19 November 2025, lot 122. By contrast the present lot has a tighter-fitting glaze, perhaps an earlier recipe.
