Of octagonal form, the plate is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with the well-known ‘Cuckoo in the House’ pattern. The central medallion depicts a garden pavilion flanked by flowering plants, with two birds beneath a floral canopy. The broad rim is divided into alternating shaped cartouches enclosing birds, flowers and landscapes. The reverse is decorated with floral sprays, while the base bears a jade (yu) mark within a double circle.
The ‘Cuckoo in the House’ design is one of the most recognisable decorative patterns of Kangxi export porcelain, inspired by Chinese garden architecture and auspicious bird-and-flower imagery. Produced in Jingdezhen during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, these wares enjoyed considerable popularity in Europe, where their balanced composition and refined underglaze cobalt-blue decoration were highly appreciated.
此盤作八方形,以釉下青花繪著名的「屋中杜鵑」(Cuckoo in the House)紋樣。盤心圓形開光內繪庭園亭榭,兩側花木掩映,花蔭下繪雙鳥。寬闊口沿分設多組形態各異的開光,內繪禽鳥、花卉及山水景致,彼此相間。盤背飾折枝花卉,底部青花雙圈內書「玉」字款。
「屋中杜鵑」是康熙外銷瓷中最具辨識度的紋樣之一,其構圖取材自中國園林建築及寓意吉祥的花鳥題材。此類瓷器於十七世紀末至十八世紀初在景德鎮燒造,輸入歐洲後廣受歡迎,尤以布局均衡及青花裝飾清雅細緻而備受推崇。
