Overall very good condition, tiny flakes to some characters and to edge of lotus root, non-disfiguring, lacking spoon.

Of flattened circular form, the shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck, with a rimmed flat lip and protruding oval footrim, the milk-white glass with a red overlay, superbly carved in low relief to depict, on one main side, a boy fanning a stove to brew a potion, a flying crane and bats above, the reverse with pierced rockwork and floral sprays, further bats flying above, one narrow side with an inscription in four-character seal script, reading “refining the elixir,” the lip rim and footrim also carved from the overlay
