Senso-e, literally "war pictures," presented imagined scenes of battle during the Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895) and Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). These prints fulfilled a pseudo-journalistic function as well as a sensational one, serving as a nationalistic propaganda platform.
