Comprising: a dish decorated with a tree peony entwined with morning glory, the rim with the Arms of Chambers impaling Wilton, facing a chained bear crest; an octagonal dish with a lion and unicorn flanking the central crest bearing the motto 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense', enclosing the Arms of William Henry, 1st Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh; a dish enamelled and gilt with the Arms of Day within a floral garland border; a Meissen style pseudo armorial dish decorated with a central grisaille scene surrounded by rocaille scrolls and shells, above the motto 'Vacua Cedit', within a moulded bianco-sopra-bianco border; and an octagonal dish enamelled and gilt with the Arms of Sir Richard Chase, Sheriff of Essex, within a spearhead band and diaper border.

John Drew (1933–2006) was born in Tideswell, Derbyshire, and educated at Sedbergh School and the Queen's College, Oxford. He spent the majority of his professional career as an archivist in various African countries, before taking up a post at the University of Cape Town in 1978.
