Several different variants of pecten shell teapots are recorded. Similar examples in solid agate are in the Fitzwilliam Museum (inv. no.C.7&A-1999), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (inv. no.14.68.4a,b) and the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art (inv. nos.41-23/15 A,B and 52-43/1,2). Another example from the Peter and Mary White Collection of identical shape, but marbled in paler tones, was sold by Bonhams on 1 December 2025, lot 20 and is illustrated by Mary White alongside the present lot.
