Of rectangular section, the shallow rising sides divided from the well by a shaped panel, the border carved with butterflies at the corners amidst flower-heads and scrolling leaves, the central well decorated with four birds, including a sparrow, a magpie and two pheasants with long trailing tail feathers, their plumage meticulously incised, set amidst a dense ground of blossoming prunus and craggy rockwork, all carved through thick layers of black lacquer to an orange-red ground, box.
