Imperial, Beijing Palace Workshops, Guyue Xuan mark, 1770-1800
Of slender oval form tapering to a narrow neck, flat mouth rim and small mouth, the clear glass bottle finely enameled in the famille-rose palette with a continuous landscape of a flowering plum trees issuing from behind a rocky outcropping together with bamboo and daisies, a butterfly in flight above, the magnificent slender branches of plum blossoms wrapping the surface of the bottle in brilliant color, the Guyue xuan mark visible under the straight foot.

This elegant bottle is part of a small group of enameled clear-glass bottles executed by the Imperial Palace Workshops during the later years of the Emperor Qianlong (1735-1795). Many of these bottles bear the mark and are discussed by Hugh Moss in his June 1978 article in , vol. X, no. 2, p. 14.

Compare an Imperial enameled glass 'prunus, bamboo and rose' snuff bottle, mark, decorated with prunus bamboo and a butterfly, attributed to the Palace Workshops and the Qianlong period, sold at Sotheby's New York, 19 March 2008, lot 304.
