The flaring sides rising from a thin foot ring and terminating in a bracketed, lotus-petal cut rim; the ivory toned glaze pooled in some areas and the base left unglazed to expose white porcelaneous body.
Provenance: Property of a French diplomat to China ca. late 1940s-1950s; thence by bequest.
Though fine Ding white ware dishes of quatrefoil form raised on low, square-cut foot rings have appeared on occasion at auction, a much more similar bowl of ivory tone raised on a tall and thin foot ring and part of the Falk Collection (no. 139) was sold at Christie's New York, October 16, 2001; Lot 44.
