Finely cast seated in lalitāsana, the right arm resting upon the raised knee and the left hand held at the side, the serene face flanked by long pendulous earlobes, the hair swept into a high chignon behind a foliate crown centered by a diminutive seated figure of Amitabha Buddha, richly attired in long flowing robes, the chest adorned with elaborate beaded necklaces and pendent jewelry, the figure richly lacquer-gilt with traces of red pigment throughout, all above a dark-lacquered rocky outcrop raised on a separately cast double-lotus pedestal with a small mythical beast and a vessel.

Compare a late Ming lacquer-gilt bronze figure of Guanyin, similarly seated in lalitāsana and wearing an elaborate openwork tiara centered by Amitabha Buddha, sold at Sotheby's London, 5 November 2014, lot 223; a Ming dynasty, 16th/17th century gilt-bronze figure of Guanyin sold at Sotheby's New York, 14 September 2012, lot 1271.
