Provenance
Faith and Dewayne Perry Collection, Simon Spero exhibition, 2008, no.43
The decoration is derived from Chinese porcelain but the form recalls silver bullet-shaped teapots; silver shapes being very much copied by English porcelain manufacturers in the mid-1750s. A spout from a similar teapot with clouds and cross-hatching excavated at the factory site is illustrated by Anton Gabszewicz and Jacqui Pearce, 'Bow porcelain revealed: finds from excavations in High Street, Stratford, 2006, Part II', ECC Trans, Vol.32, 2021-22, p.11, fig.11:2 (bottom).
