木盒：陳半丁先生見貽紅杏詩畫。大千寶之。
簽書：半丁老人杏花。
款識：
田家繁杏壓枝紅，遠勝桃夭與李穠。何事偏宜閒處植，無端復向別時逢。林間暫繫黃金勒，花下聊飛碼碯鍾。會待重來醉嘉樹，只愁風雨不相容。甲辰元旦寫呈大千仁道兄法正。半丁老人年八十有九。
鈐印：「半丁老人」、「一根草堂」、「山陰道上半個漢」、「强其骨」。
註：據杜琦〈張大千早年的趣事〉，張大千與陳半丁相識早於上世紀二十年代，陳氏乃北方畫壇耆宿，大千卻直指其新收的石濤山水冊為筆下仿作，令以研究石濤著名的陳氏甚感尷尬，惟對二人交誼並無影響。一九三五年，北平琉璃廠清秘閣出版〈張大千畫集〉，半丁即作序者之一。越兩載，大千又與溥儒合作寫〈松溪雙駿〉呈陳氏就教。大千去國後，關係亦未礙於局勢而中輟，如一九六二年，陳半丁仍奏刀治「張大千」白文印寄贈（後由徐雯波捐贈臺北故宮博物院）。本幅寫於一九六四年元旦，時畫家年近九旬，取四尺整紙，寫紅杏盈枝綻放，嫩葉嬌翠，春意溢然，致賀新歲。題詩出自司馬光〈和道矩送客‧汾西村舍杏花盛開置酒其下〉，在當年時空背景下，詩末兩句讀來別有另番意味。畫家悉力成圖，千里遙寄，大千得之，付精工良裱，選料考究，配金屬鏤空唐草紋軸首，貯於日本訂造的桐木畫盒，上題曰「大千寶之」，奉若拱璧，珍愛有加！
