A globular covered bowl, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue. The painting is executed in a spontaneous and lively manner, with both the cover and the bowl adorned with a continuous mountainous river landscape. The composition depicts mountains, winding shores, and trees, with the sun appearing in the sky and small birds in flight. Interwoven with the natural scenery are architectural elements, including pavilions and pagodas, while small boats carrying figures drift across the water. The interior remains undecorated. The cover is surmounted by a moulded finial in the form of a rosette. The cover has a slightly thickened rim and an unglazed inner edge, which fits onto the corresponding unglazed rim of the bowl.
This covered bowl is a fascinating example of the imagery through which European audiences in the sixteenth century imagined the distant and exotic world of China. Such landscape scenes, combining elements of nature, architecture and leisurely pursuits, offered a romanticised vision of the Far East and contributed to the European fascination with Chinese art and culture.
蓋碗呈圓鼓形，通體以釉下青花裝飾，筆觸率意而生動。蓋面與碗身通景繪山水圖，群山起伏，水岸蜿蜒，林木掩映，天空中繪太陽及飛鳥。亭台、樓閣與寶塔錯落於山水之間，水面小舟往來，舟中可見人物，構成悠遠而富有層次的江南景象。器內素白無紋。蓋頂置模印花朵形鈕，蓋沿略厚，內緣露胎，與碗口相應的露胎部位扣合。
此蓋碗反映十六世紀歐洲人對遙遠中國及其異域風貌的想像。山水、建築與人物遊樂場景交織，營造出理想化的東方世界，迎合當時歐洲市場對中國藝術與文化日益濃厚的興趣。
