Compare with a similar painted enamel cup and saucer, Qianlong four-character mark and of the period, in the Qing Court Collection, illustrated in the Compendium of Collections of the Palace Museum: Enamels, 5, Beijing, 2011, pp.244-245, no.188.
The white enamelled 'pearls' crowning the handles emulate the jewelled mounts found on actual ritual cups. See for example a gold cup with pearls, made in the second year of the Jiaqing reign (1797), illustrated in Gugong zhenbao, Beijing, 2004, pp.80-81. A gold cup of similar shape and also with pearls atop the handles, Qing dynasty, is illustrated in Ibid., p.141.
