註：高奇峰寫人物極稀，除偶作山水點景外，作主體者，僅見數幅以「達摩」為題之作，所寫全身或半身像，大多以側面入圖，如本幅正面示人，尤為難得。畫中尊者披素白袈裟，袒胸露懷，大耳濃髯，粗眉深目，呈胡貌梵相，狀貌神態與現藏京都國立近代美術館，日本畫家都路華香（1870-1931）一九一七年作〈達摩圖〉相近。都路華香為幸野楳嶺高足，與竹內棲鳳同門，乃明治至昭和初期京都畫壇代表人物，蓋高奇峰和其兄劍父早年東渡留學，故對彼邦作品多有取法。本幅尊者趺坐菩提樹下參悟佛理，神情沉靜如入定，背罩佛光，光暈淡淡映照；畫家尤著力於背景渲染，菩提葉面輕敷白粉，見光線穿透而呈半透明，營造出如虛似幻、空靈超脫之境，可見畫家借鏡東瀛畫風而衍成之自我面貌。
