The inscription reads, 'Shang yuan fengguang jingse xin, bai hui tu yan xiangying hong, dadi chunse wuxian hao, zhi tou niao yu ban huaxiang. Jiaxu nian xia zuo', which may be translated as 'the scenery of the Garden is fresh and new, with hundreds of flowers blooming and their vivid reds echoing one another like whispered flames; Springtime on earth is infinitely beautiful, with birdsong that drifts through the branches and accompanies the fragrance of flowers. Written in the summer of the Jiaxu year'.
題詩：上苑風光景色新，百卉吐艷相映紅，大地春色無限好，枝頭鳥語伴花香。甲戌年夏作。
