Exceptionally large dishes such as the present lot are rare due to the difficulty in firing a dish of such massive proportions and weight. A related and larger Longquan floral dish (63.5cm diam.), early 15th century, is illustrated by J. Harrison-Hall, Ming Ceramics in the British Museum, London, 2001, no.16:64.
Compare a similar but slightly larger example (54.3cm diam.) with a peony bloom in the well, Yongle/Xuande, which was sold at Bonhams London, 7 November 2013, lot 8. See also a related smaller Longquan celadon dish (32.4cm), Yongle, from J.T. Tai & Co., which was sold at Sotheby's New York, 22 March 2011, lot 86.
