Tibet, 15th/ 16th cent.

The sword is consisting of an iron blade stuck into a metal pommel, the wood hilt topped with an iron finial wrought with scrolling tendrils at the sides and a flower-head at its top, the wood scabbard embellished with perhaps ray or shark skin, the whole fastened with copper strips and further ornamented to its front with several ajour plaques of a scrolling tendril design
