Notes:
Acala, meaning 'immovable', is a wrathful manifestation of Manjushri, the bodhisattva of supreme wisdom, and, in Nepalese Buddhism, a manifestation of Chakrasamvara. A comparable depiction of Acala with consort Vishvavajri can be seen painted on a thangka from the Zimmerman Family Collection in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, museum no. 2012.456.
