The pair of hongmu side chairs, dengguayi or sometimes called yitongbeiyi (‘unity stele’ chairs) of small proportions, with a curved s-shaped backsplat below the shaped crest rail and curved rear posts which continue through the seat forming the rear legs, above the plain aprons and straight spandrels, with legs of round section joined by stepped stretched and footrest
