Shards bearing this design were excavated by Professor Garner in London. A very similar plate attributed to Norfolk House is illustrated by Michael Archer, English Delftware in the Fitzwilliam Museum, 2013, p.85, B.4. Archer notes the unusual profile with turnover rim and pierced footrim. This would have enabled the owner to proudly display the plate in a similar fashion to chargers of basically the same profile on a larger scale. The pattern also occurs on plates of plain form with no footrim, see the example sold by Bonhams on 11 June 2025, lot 165.
