A SMALL CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER 'PHOENIX AND DRAGON' CABINET
Qing Dynasty, late 19th century
Of square form, the two doors above a single drawer, deeply carved through layers of cinnabar red lacquer with a large phoenix descending on one side and a powerful dragon ascending on the other side, each door with two gilt-bronze hinges and a gilt-bronze door handle, the frames carved with key-fret pattern, the doors opening to two small drawers.
44 cm (17 3/8 in.) high x 38.5 cm (15 1/8 in.) wide x 17 cm (6 3/4 in.) deep (4).
