The centre of the interior decorated in vibrant polychrome enamels with two phoenixes in flight flanking a lush peony bloom, interspersed with five bats and floral sprays, all within a crisp ruyi-head border and surrounded by scrolling lotus along the well, broad everted rim is framed by shaped cartouches enclosing seasonal floral and fruiting sprays representing the twelve months, reserved on a T-pattern diaper ground. The exterior sides are encircled by a continuous lotus scroll, while the underside is intricately detailed with prunus blossoms and florets floating over a turquoise cracked-ice ground, fitted box.

The present lot is remarkable for its vibrant, multi-coloured enamels and the meticulous craftsmanship evident in the precise application of the wire work. The art and craftsmanship of cloisonné enamel were prosperously developed during the celebrated reign of the Qianlong Emperor. The technical expertise attained by the Imperial ateliers enabled the production of large-scale and intricate cloisonné works for court use, such as the present lot.
It is exceedingly rare to have a cloisonné enamel basin adorned with a pair of phoenixes. An earlier example (52cm diam.) decorated with two phoenixes in flight flanking a central peony amongst further flowers, dated to the 16th century, is in the Pierre Uldry Collection, illustrated in , Zurich, 1985, pl.63. See also a cloisonné enamel rectangular dish decorated with a related design of phoenix, Kangxi, in the Qing Court Collection, illustrated in , Hong Kong, 2002, pl.82; and a lobed basin with phoenixes and peony design, dated to the 18th century, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, accession no. 4785-1858. The present lot is also distinguished by the diversity of its decorative elements, including the shaped cartouches containing different fruiting and floral sprays on the everted rim, as well as the prunus and cracked-ice pattern applied to the base. A cloisonné enamel dish featuring a similar cracked-ice ground, early Qing dynasty, is in the Qing Court Collection, and illustrated in , Shenyang, 2007, pl.4.
此盤構圖典雅，釉色絢麗、掐絲細緻，其工藝之嚴謹，充分體現乾隆朝掐絲琺瑯發展之盛。其時宮廷作坊技藝臻於成熟，得以製作如本品般大型而繁複之御用器物。
掐絲琺瑯盤飾雙鳳者極為罕見。較早例子，包括一件十六世紀掐絲琺瑯盤（直徑52厘米），飾雙鳳環繞牡丹飛舞，為Pierre Uldry珍藏，見《Chinesisches Cloisonne: Die Sammlung Pierre Uldry》，蘇黎世，1985年，圖版63。另見清宮舊藏一件康熙朝掐絲琺瑯長方盤，飾相類鳳紋，見《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集：金屬胎琺瑯器》，香港，2002年，圖版82；及倫敦維多利亞與艾伯特博物館藏一件十八世紀掐絲琺瑯花口盤，館藏編號4785-1858。除了牡丹，雙鳳紋亦會搭配纏枝蓮紋呈現，例如清宮舊藏一花口盤，載於《故宮博物院藏品大系：琺瑯器編4：清代掐絲琺瑯》，北京，2011年，圖版4。
