Each finely potted with rounded sides rising from a short and straight foot, covered to the interior and exterior with an egg yolk yellow glaze.

As documented in The History of the Palace of the Reigning Dynasty (國朝宮史), compiled in the thirty-fourth year of the Qianlong reign (1769), ceramics featuring yellow glaze on both the interior and exterior were exclusively reserved for the uses of the Emperor, Empress Dowager and Empress.
See a similar yellow glazed bowl, Daoguang mark and of the period, in the Qing Court Collection, the Palace Museum, Beijing (acc.no.故00161825-2/2320). See also a similar but slightly larger (14.6cm diam.) yellow glazed bowl, Daoguang seal mark and of the period, which was sold at Sotheby's London, 27 May 2021, lot 346.
