The Second Panchen Lama, Lobzang Yeshe (1663–1737), sits upon a cushioned throne, wearing a yellow hat and richly gold-patterned monastic robes. His right hand is raised in , while his left supports a begging bowl. Ritual vessels and tall flowering plants flank the throne, with attendants presenting offerings at left.
The landscape bridges the monastic and celestial realms. On the right, Tashilhunpo Monastery rises among green hills and snow-capped mountains, surrounded by banks of clouds. Above, Amitabha Buddha and a Gelug hierarch appear within halos, while Vajrabhairava occupies the upper left within a blazing flame aureole. A rainbow band emanates from the Panchen Lama, connecting him to Manjushri, seated within a rainbow aureole against the mountainous landscape. Below, the protector deities Magzor Gyalmo, Dorje Setrab and Chingkarwa advance on their respective mounts through swirling clouds and smoke.
The composition follows an 18th-century Narthang woodblock series depicting the Panchen Lama lineage (HAR set no. 531), particularly the corresponding print of Lobzang Yeshe (HAR 79185). Variations in the landscape, offerings, clouds and surrounding figures indicate an independently painted interpretation of the Narthang model.
