詩堂：不翦焦毛鬣半翻，何人別是古龍孫。風吹病骨無驕氣，圡蝕騘花見臥痕。未噴斷雲歸漢苑，曾追輕練過吳門。一朝千里心猶在，爭肯潛忘䬴飼恩。戊子嘉平，蒼谿居士。

註：劉奎齡寫走獸於近代獨樹一格。本幅未署年，詩堂題於一九四八年，結合書風推斷，應出於同時，正值其創作盛期。畫家攝取馬俯首嚙食之瞬間，前腿微曲，尾鬃輕擺，靜態中寓動勢，眼眸微睜，流露溫馴氣質。畫面構圖簡潔，略渲染草地，直接將焦點聚於主角，處理手法結合中西，細膩入微而不著筆痕，質感、體格及光影，莫不清晰呈現，栩栩如生之態，教觀者歎絕。詩題唐人曹唐〈病馬〉其一，別興歷史滄桑。
