款識：
〈于〉予喜養鴿，畏畫鴿，鴿之嘴、爪皆有說，羽毛色澤皆有譜，其考究視蟋蟀加詳，昔曾為文記之，都數萬言，華盛頓有英譯本。
此鴿名玉翅，嘴要鈍，眼要金，身要細瘦，腿短，要裸而無毛，大翅、白翎左右，數貴均等，眼皮清白，貴細潤，襠貴無白毛，繫鴿之鈴以體輕而聲宏，每一哨有一音，其製之最珍者，皆刻製者姓名焉。甲申九月，非闇。
〈許〉潮侵坐禪石，雨潤讀經香。古硯傳人遠，新篁過塔長。城中如火熱，此地獨清涼。許松如。
鈐印：〈于〉「于照之印」、「非闇」。

註：于非闇好豢鴿，兼擅寫之，惟所作多呈雙鴿或群聚，本幅獨為玉翅寫照，頗稀見，畫無背景，僅旁置一鈴，所寫短嘴黑玉翅，乃鴿中異品，通體毛羽烏亮光澤，花紋層次分明，目瞳炯然，有異於臨徽宗、黃筌本追求裝飾，本幅側重寫生，敷彩、絲毛俱極盡工細，又不失靈動之態。
一九二八年，于非闇曾撰〈都門豢鴿記〉，后由美國人福開森氏譯成英文發行。扇面雙題，即涉其事，又詳述玉翅特徵與鴿鈴之製，畫中所寫鴿、鈴皆依譜繫，畫家道「畏畫鴿」，正因下筆嚴謹考究之故。
畫於北京榮寶齋製扇箋。
民國京華竹刻名家張志魚雕製扇骨，一面刻竹雞圖，款「燮廷仁兄雅屬，庚辰中秋，張志魚」，落「張」印；一面刊袁克文詩稿，款「當樓看雲起，新詩儻可尋。海天一莽蒼，去住幾沉吟。袁克文」，落「袁」、「寒雲」印。
