Qianlong seal mark and of the period
Finely potted with a convex body rising elegantly from a short spreading foot to a short waisted neck flanked by a pair of archaistic scroll handles, overall covered in a thick greyish-blue glaze with fine crackle lines except the brown-dressed foot ring, the base with a six-character seal mark in underglaze blue.

Davis Collamore (1820–1887) established the luxury goods store, Davis Collamore & Co., in New York City in 1842. The store specialised in the sale of fine European porcelain, as well as American glass and pottery.
The glaze of the present vase is greatly inspired by the subtle Southern Song dynasty glaze, reflecting the Qianlong Emperor's fascination with ancient antiques and styles. A related prototype from the Song dynasty is in the Palace Museum, Taipei, acc.no.guci017706. Additionally, a closely related moonflask, Qianlong seal mark and of the period, with a recessed base is in the Southern Song Guan Kiln Museum, Hangzhou, illustrated in (A Collection of Essays on Southern Song Dynasty Guan Kiln), Beijing, 2004, p.231, pl.9. See also a crackle-glazed moonflask, Qianlong, fitted with George IV (1762–1830) silver-gilt mounts, which was sold at Sotheby's New York, 30 January 2024, lot 25.
Moonflasks with crackled glaze imitating glaze emerged during the Yongzheng period. See, for example, a related moonflask with a garlic-shaped mouth from the Huaihaitang collection, illustrated in , Hong Kong, 2007, pp.144-145, no.31. Compare also a -type octagonal moonflask, Yongzheng seal mark and of the period, which was sold at Bonhams London, 17 May 2012, lot 303.

本瓶釉色深得南宋官窯含蓄典雅之趣，反映乾隆皇帝稽古尚雅之情懷。參考一件宋代官窯青瓷弓耳扁壺，應為此類器物之原型，現藏於台北故宮博物院，館藏編號：故瓷017706。另一件相關之乾隆時期仿官釉弓耳扁壺，則藏於杭州南宋官窯博物館，著錄於《南宋官窯文集》，北京，2004年，頁231，圖版9。再比較一乾隆例，配喬治四世（1762–1830）鎏銀鑲嵌，售於紐約蘇富比，2024年1月30日，拍品編號25。
仿官釉抱月瓶於雍正時期已出現。參見懷海堂舊藏一件類似但蒜頭口的抱月瓶，著錄於《機暇清賞：懷海堂藏清代御窯瓷缾》，香港，2007年，頁144至145，編號31；及一件八方例，售於倫敦邦瀚斯，2012年5月17日，拍品編號303。
