Each raised on a spreading circular foot and finely painted in vibrant underglaze cobalt blue. The salts are decorated to the interior with elegant arrangements of auspicious antiquities (bogu), including scholarly objects, scrolls and precious vessels, enclosed by a scrolling border. The stems and exteriors are further ornamented with stylised floral sprays and diaper motifs.
The bogu motif, depicting treasured objects from the scholar’s studio, became increasingly popular during the Kangxi period as a symbol of refinement, learning and prosperity, and remained one of the most enduring decorative themes on Chinese export porcelain.
每件鹽碟均下承外撇圓形高足，以鮮麗青花精繪紋飾。碟內繪博古圖，包括文房清供、書卷及各式珍貴器物，外環卷草紋邊飾。高足及外壁另飾程式化折枝花卉與錦地紋。
博古紋以文人書齋中的古器珍玩為題材，至康熙時期日益流行，象徵風雅、學識與富足，後來亦成為中國外銷瓷上歷久不衰的經典裝飾題材。
