This object type appears in the records as a pot-pourri, fleurs en relief. Potpourris were produced in five different sizes at Vincennes with production ceasing after 1752. In the workers' records for 5 December, 1746, Pierre Louis Massüe was paid 96 livres "pour peinture de 32 pots-pourris à 3 livres la pièce" (T. Préaud and A. d'Albis, La porcelaine de Vincennes, 1991, p. 136, no. 71).
A similar Vincennes potpourri without a cover is in the Musée national de céramique, Sèvres (inv. MNC15058) and another example, with gilt bronze mounts and its cover intact, is in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (C.367&A-1909).
