Finely worked in colored silks and couched gilt thread, the field centered with a lotus medallion surrounded by flying bats and endless knots, all enclosed within a gilt-thread border, the wide borders decorated with further lotus and peony blossoms borne on scrolling leafy vines.

Compare another kang cushion cover of closely related design sold at Christie's London, 11 November 2003, lot 99. See also a further comparable example sold at Bonhams London, 13 May 2025, lot 223. The present cushion cover shares the characteristic central medallion enclosed within a broad floral border, together with the finely executed silk embroidery and auspicious decorative program typical of Qing dynasty furnishings intended for the kang, the raised heated platform that formed the principal living and reception space in the northern Chinese interiors.
