说明：本瓶呈秀雅八方形，釉色含蓄溫潤，充分反映雍正皇帝對宋代（960–1279年）名瓷的由衷推崇。其器形遠承商周青銅方壺，而更直接取法宋代瓷質壺式器。柔和的灰藍色釉則仿效宋代備受珍視的汝窯瓷器；清宮廣泛蒐藏宋代汝瓷，並以之為範本，命御窯加以重新詮釋。甚至足部露胎處亦染施褐色護胎汁，進一步追摹宋瓷古雅之貌。可比較臺北國立故宮博物院藏三件形制密切相關的宋代八方壺，載於《故宮宋瓷圖錄：南宋官窯》，臺北，1974年，圖版6至8。
雍正款壺式瓶傳世可見數種不同形制。可比較倫敦英國皇家收藏一件形制密切相關而尺寸較大的例子，著錄於John Ayers，《Chinese and Japanese Works of Art in the Collection of Her Majesty The Queen》，卷二，倫敦，2016年，編號1271。其他清宮舊藏的相關壺式變體，參見《故宮博物院藏文物珍品全集：顏色釉》，香港，1999年，圖版204及205。
