〈畫〉終日尋春不見春，芒鞋踏破嶺頭雲。歸來咲撚梅花嗅，春在枝頭已十分。元人句。壬子冬，寫為蔡怡女弟清賞。靜農。
〈書〉壬子仲冬書南田詩，為蔡怡女弟清屬。靜農。
鈐印：「臺靜農」、「靜者」、「定慧」、「靜者」、「臺靜農印信」、「歇腳盦」。
上款：蔡怡，筆名林綺，臺灣屏東人，著名作家，臺灣大學中文系畢業，後赴美深造，獲教育學博士學位，曾服務美、臺教育界十六載，現為臺北市閱讀寫作協會副理事長、專欄作家、文學獎評審，著作等身，曾獲全球首屆三毛散文集獎、聯合報文學獎散文組首獎等獎項。
註：蔡怡與臺靜農具師生之誼，本幅即蔡氏離臺赴美前獲贈。
「每個時代有其代表人物，每個大學有其傳奇教授，臺大的傳奇是臺公靜農與孔公德成。而我何其有幸修過兩位傳奇的課，得其口傳心授。臺公靜農乃謙謙君子，溫暖和煦，真五四大師的風範。我大一讀的國文選由臺教授編選，有經史，古文，詩經，楚辭，奠定古典國學基礎。我大四修他的六朝小說，才知道這些小說作者都是以紀實的態度記錄所見所聞，不是虛構。這與後來我們對小說的理解不同。若以現在的口語來說，六朝小說多屬報導文學。但他們對唐代傳奇小說影響至深。
臺公從文學院長廊迎面而來，笑著對著我說：『你是蔡怡？還是劉翔飛？自己報名，你們兩人長得太像，我一時分不清楚。』他穿長袍配西裝褲，吸著煙斗，一派風雅。
同學間耳語，臺教授是魯迅得意門生，宿舍門前有人站崗，因此他從不談政治，只寄情於教課書畫品酒。
一九七三年我才念完臺大中文研究所一年級，為愛放棄中國文學，遠走天涯，辜負中文系教授們的用心栽培，臺教授毫不責怪，問我『你去美國留學也結婚嗎？送你一幅梅花，外加兩幅書法。』他大筆一揮即就，才情瀟灑。
我在異鄉寄居十六年，一九八九年返臺，九〇年臺教授去世，在第一殯儀館的追悼會上，我默默與臺老師道別，心中閃過的都是老師的溫暖，和藹，與風度翩翩。」——蔡怡〈我所知的臺靜農與孔德成教授〉
