Four-armed, Vishnu rests one hand on the head of each attendant while holding a lotus and a conch in his upper hands. He wears a triple-leaf diadem with floral ornaments above the ears and large ringlets falling onto his shoulders.
A closely comparable figure, together with the characteristically exaggerated backward-leaning attendants, is a 9th/10th century Kashmir Vishnu in the British Museum (1966,0616.1). Compare also a Kashmir figure of Vaikuntha Vishnu, dated to the 8th/9th century, sold at Bonhams, New York, 22 March 2022, lot 317. Further parallels may be found in a figure of Tara from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, dated to the first half of the 9th century, in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (EA2013.67), illustrating the close artistic connections across the western Himalayan region during this period.
