註：張大千、葉淺予相識於三十年代初，往後交往頻仍。一九四五年，葉氏自印度歸來，赴西康藏彝地區采風前，曾借居於大千成都寓所近三月，朝夕共處，請益藝事。大千去國後，仍互有書畫寄贈，友情久長逾半世紀。
畫中兩異域女子，立者梳長辮，繫彩色橫紋圍裙，胸前佩戴小型護身佛盒，乃典型藏族婦女裝扮；坐者披覆蓋頭大圍巾，飾以圓盤金耳環、鼻環及金串項鍊，與尼泊爾女性裝束相合。有別於其筆下常見婀娜多姿的舞娘，本幅著重人物神態之刻劃，二女靜處蕉蔭下，托腮沉思，似有所待。
