來源
Louis Lemcovici(1910-2010)舊藏,此後家族傳承
In the 1930s, a group of late Shang dynasty tombs was discovered in Xiaotun near Anyang, their contents dispersed through a network of dealers in China and the West. Among the pieces recovered from the site were several shield-shaped ornaments or fittings similar in size and design to the present lot and described as end pieces of a beam or a yoke that were now in museum collections. The first example of this type, excavated from the 'Elephant tomb' near Anyang, is illustrated by William Charles White, , Toronto, 1956, p. 69, pl. XXXIIA and B (Fig. 1). Another example acquired in Beijing in 1935 for the collection of King Gustav Adolf of Sweden, now in the collection of the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm, is published in Ch'en Fangmei and Mette Siggstedt, "The Collection of Shang Bronzes in the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities: a Catalogue", in , Stockholm, no. 77 (2009), p. 214, cat. no. 193a and b (Fig. 2).
