Good condition. The colour of the jade is slightly more grey than appears in the catalogue, and the inclusions are darker. There are natural dark fissures in the stone and dark inclusions. There are some minor old chips to the rim including one measuring 0.8 cm long.

说明：本璧體現中國青銅時代晚期最受推崇的玉器紋樣之一，將源自新石器時代的玉璧形制演繹至繁縟精巧之境。璧面淺浮雕谷紋，間以纖細陰刻線、繩索紋邊飾，外周環繞一圈盤旋虯曲、琢刻遒勁的牛首龍紋，構圖繁而有序。
相類例在尺寸、陰刻線條及表面處理上略有差異，包括廣州西漢南越王墓出土諸例，著錄於古方，《中國出土玉器全集》，卷十一，北京，2005年，頁42至55；其中首兩件內孔周圍另飾一圈獸紋。另可比較臺北國立故宮博物院所藏數例之一，載於《故宮玉器選萃》，臺北，1970年，圖版5；以及一件嵌於清宮紫檀插屏的玉璧，載於《故宮玉器選萃》續輯，臺北，1973年，圖版4。該館《玉璧特展圖錄》，臺北，1995年，亦收錄多件相關例，編號87、88（封面）、91、92及93；其中封面所刊編號88製作尤為精細，其陰刻線條的運用與本品最為相近。
