Rising from three domed feet, the leaf-shaped drip-pan supporting a candle socket, attached to one side with a loop handle, the interior of the pan painted with two floral and foliate chrysanthemum sprays in pink, yellow, green and blue enamels reserved on a white ground, the scalloped rim further decorated with a band of black foliate scrolls on a blue ground.
13.5cm (5 3/8in) wide.

The present lot was made for export to the European market. The chamberstick, also known as a chamber candlestick, was designed to be carried to light the way indoors. A possible prototype for the present lot can be found in a French brass candlestick, ca.1700, in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (acc.no.2177-1855).
