说明：The Eight Immortals, or baxian, refers to eight figures said to have achieved immortality through religious devotion. Each representing an aspect of humanity— men; women; old; young; rich; poor; noble; and humble — these eight auspicious figures are depicted with their traditional attributes floating among the clouds.
The present bowl design appears to have first been produced late in Kangxi reign (1662–1722), formalised in the Yongzheng reign (1723-1735) and perfected in the Qianlong (1736-1795). Compare a Kangxi prototype sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 13th November 1990, lot 218; and a Yongzheng example, 29th October 1991, lot 134.
