Provenance: Sir Stephen Harry Aitchison, 1st Baronet (1863-1942), Lemmington Hall, Northumberland (label)
Sir Stephen Harry Aitchison (1863-1942) married Alice Mary Willson, daughter of Walter de Lancey Willson (d. 1907) of Kirklinton Park, Cumberland. Willson was the founder of the northern grocery supermarket chain Walter Willson Ltd., which Aitchison later inherited and expanded. He was knighted in 1928 and made a baronet in 1938 for political and public services in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The firm remained in family hands until 1998. In 1913 Aitchison bought the ruined shell of Lemmington Hall in Northumberland which he lovingly restored.
