西藏 十八世紀 二十一度母唐卡
Such colourful arrangements of the goddess derive from the Twenty-One Praises of Tara, traditionally said to have been uttered by the Buddha Samantabhadra. Each manifestation of the saviouress fulfils a distinct function—averting blame, warding off epidemics, or drawing forth charisma and wealth. Over time, this widely practised devotion gave rise to numerous subsidiary traditions, each with subtle iconographic variations.
